Supermodel turned actress Christie Brinkley stopped by "Good Morning America" on Wednesday, April 6 to chat about her upcoming Broadway debut in the role of CHICAGO's Roxie Hart. Brinkley joins a long line of women, from Bebe Neuwirth to Kelly Osbourne, to guest star in the musical.

GMA host Elizabeth Vargas asked the actress how she became involved in the long running Broadway production. "They asked if I was interested", explained Brinkley, who after going to see the show had to wonder, "why in the world would they ask me to do all of that?". Ultimately, Brinkley told producers, "Let me come in and audition and you tell me if you think I have what you need".

Prior to her audition, Brinkley spent a good deal of time listening to Roxie's challenging musical numbers from her CD of the show. In addition, she received some guidance from an unexpected source, ex-husband and world reknown musician Billy Joel. "When he heard I was doing this, he's like 'she's got to learn how to project her voice so she doesn't lose it and can save it'", recalled the actress.

Vargas asked the well-toned 57 year-old how she maintains such a fabulous figure. "I have to say, dancing really has done something for me" explains Brinkley. "When I went to see the show I thought 'there's no way I can be up on stage with all those dancers. I'll look like a sack of potatoes'. But it could be worth it if I get a dancer's body!"

Christie Brinkley's 11-week engagement in CHICAGO kicks off Friday, April 8 at New York's Ambassador Theater.
