Buoyed by captivated audiences and great reviews, Center Stage's production of A Civil War Christmas has broken the theater's single ticket daily gross record, becoming one of the best-selling shows in the company's 50-year history. As dates fill up for this new holiday classic by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel, an additional performance has been added to closing weekend, on Sunday, December 22 at 7:30 pm.

"We have been blown away by the magical show that Paula Vogel, Rebecca Taichman, and Liz Lerman have brought to us," says Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah. "It is thrilling to see our audiences embrace this production and the creative approach with which the team brought it to life."

Limited tickets remain for this production hailed by the Washington Post as "ingenious," and that the Baltimore Sun has called "a soaring production," which "couldn't be more welcome or relevant." To keep up with the demand, the theater is adding a performance on Sunday, December 22, at 7:30-but ticket buyers should act fast if they want to catch what Maryland Theatre Guide is calling "America's Christmas Carol [that] should be seen by everyone this holiday season."

A Civil War Christmas weaves together the stories of more than two-dozen characters-spanning race, religion, and class-on Christmas Eve in 1864. All along the Potomac, from the White House to the front lines, figures both historical and fictional find their lives strangely and poetically intertwined. Infused with traditional holiday carols and period folk songs, A Civil War Christmas celebrates the beauty of shared humanity at a turning point in our nation's history.

A Civil War Christmas: An American Musical Celebration by Paula Vogel, directed by Rebecca Taichman, runs through December 22. Tickets start at $19 and can be purchased by calling 410.332.0033, or visiting www.centerstage.org. Full information on the season can be found at www.centerstage.org/2013-14season.
