According to The LA Times, Cate Blanchett is going to star in David Mamet's new film 'Blackbird.' Blanchett is an Academy Award winner and a welcome addition to any film's cast. 'Blackbird' aims to uncover a secret explanation for the JFK assassination.

Blanchett is to play a woman named Janet, a woman traveling to Los Angeles following the death of her grandfather. Her grandfather was a Hollywood visual effects artist whose many dark secrets come back to haunt his granddaughter.

David Mahmet will direct the film and it is described as a 'Hitchcockian thriller.' It will be produced by SBS Productions and is scheduled to shoot in Sydney later this year.
