Caitlin G McCollom's 'Light In the Window' Opens at BLUEorange June 23

BLUEorange Contemporary Art Gallery welcomes artist Caitlin G McCollom to Houston for a solo exhibition of her work entitled "Light in the Window." Featuring more than 20 original paintings, the collection explores the moment when light floods through a window. "Light In The Window" will be on view from June 23 to August 4.

The Austin-based, internationally exhibiting artist paints with high-flow acrylic on Yupo, a synthetic Japanese paper that repels water. This exhibition expresses solitary moments of spiritual communion and comprises several of the artist's series, including Final Revelation, Secret Window and Brutal Resurrection, plus several never-before-shown pieces.

"It's fascinating how the sunlight moves at a certain hour to flood a window with light," says McCollom. "The change is silent, but radiantly different-a sunbeam reveals dust and sometimes throws a few rainbows onto the wall. This exhibition continues my exploration of spiritual themes in color and shape and focuses on those moments of radiant difference that are totally silent in my life and in a more universal sense."

McCollom is thrilled to return to BLUEorange, noting that "Houston's art community is serious, challenging and friendly, and is one of my favorites in Texas."

BLUEorange will host an opening reception with McCollom on Saturday, June 23 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will be free and open to the public with complimentary refreshments. The show will close with an artist talk on Saturday, August 4 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
