BroadwayWorld has just learned that Liza Minnelli's upcoming appearances at the London Palladium and Sheffield City Hall have been cancelled. According to a statement from the star's rep, it's "because of the promotor's failure to pay. Due to current economics and unusually high ticket prices, the producer was unable to secure the promised funds. For months Liza has been preparing for these shows and she was devastated to hear of this unfortunate news. She has always thought of London a second home and will miss seeing her friends and devoted fans."

She was supposed to perform at the London Palladium on Sunday 20 September, followed by Sheffield's City Hall on 22 September. According to press materials, An Intimate Evening with Liza Minnelli was to be presented by Rocco Buonvino, who was behind similar events featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. An additional concert in Glasgow had been previously removed from the star's calendar.

Currently in her sixth decade of performing, Liza Minnelli, winner of four Tony Awards, an Oscar, a Grammy, two Golden Globe Awards, an Emmy and a BAFTA, remains one of the world's most beloved entertainers.

Liza Minnelli was born in Los Angeles and made her screen debut as a toddler in the musical In the Good Old Summertime in 1949. One of the world's best-loved entertainers, she won Tony awards for Flora, the Red Menace in 1965, Liza at the Winter Garden in 1977, The Act in 1978 and Liza's at the Palace in 2009. Nominated for an Academy Award for The Sterile Cuckoo in 1969, she went on to win the Best Actress prize for her best-known film, Cabaret (1973), which also won her a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA. Film credits include Charlie Bubbles (67), Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon (70), Lucky Lady (75), A Matter of Time (76), New York, New York (77), Arthur (81), Stepping Out (91), and Oh In Ohio (06).
