CUTTING EDGE COMPOSERS is kicking off the New Year by congratulating Eli Bolin and Sam Forman on their musical VOLLEYGIRLS, which was just named One of the Best Shows of 2013 at NYMF by the Huffington Post! VOLLEYGIRLS is a brand new girl-power musical about a disgraced Olympian and her oddball team of high-school volleyball players.

A small, mostly-female ensemble brings the saga of the Ladyhawks to life with unique sports choreography and a catchy original score. The show is full of humor, heart, and positive messages of empowerment and self-acceptance for teenage girls. VOLLEYGIRLS has a book by Rob Ackerman with music by Eli Bolin and lyrics by Sam Forman. It won the "Best of Fest" Audience Prize at NYMF 2013 with a production directed by Neil Patrick Stewart, produced by Monica Raymund, and starring Susan Blackwell.

According to playwright Rob Ackerman: "I think the theatre community will one day be proud to have nurtured a seminal new American musical, the first of its kind, a work of theater in which women achieve glory and men stand on the sidelines and cheer. That's a switch. And it's high time we made it."
