A staged reading of new play Buena Vista will be offered as part of Profile Theatre's "In Dialogue Staged Reading Series" of new and contemporary plays in conversation with Sam Shepard's body of work. Buena Vista was developed and premiered at Steppenwolf Theatre Company and will continue to be refined while at Profile.

Presenting staged readings of new plays allows Profile to support and nurture contemporary playwrights, bring new voices in the American theatre to Portland, while further exploring the season's featured playwright and his influence.

Playwright Edith Freni will be in attendance at both performances to discuss the play. Freni's work has been produced, and developed at theatre across the country including Steppenwolf Theatre Company, New York Theatre Workshop, The Public Theatre, and Williamstown Theater Festival. Currently on the faculty at the University of Miami, Ms. Freni is a former competitive amateur boxer and received her BFA and MFA in Dramatic Writing from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

The reading will be held at the Morrison Stage at Artists Repertory Theatre, 1515 SW Morrison Street, Portland, OR 97205 tonight, April 12, 2014 at 7:30pm - pre-show discussion with playwright begins at 7:00pm - and Sunday, April 13, 2014 at 2:00pm - post-show discussion with playwright and cast follows the reading.
