Signature Theatre's New York Premiere of August Wilson's HOW I LEARNED WHAT I LEARNED begins performances tonight. The production, which is co-conceived with and directed by Todd Kreidler, and in collaboration with and featuring Tony Award-winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson, opens on November 24 and runs through Sunday, December 22 in The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42ndStreet between 9th and 10th Avenues).

This solo show, featuring Ruben Santiago-Hudson, shares August Wilson's personal stories about his encounters with racism, music, love, violence, and life-changing friendships as a young poet in Pittsburgh's Hill District. Directed by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's long-time collaborator Todd Kreidler, August Wilson's How I Learned What I Learned charts one man's journey of self-discovery and what it means to be a black artist in America.

The design team includes David Gallo (Scenic and Projection Design), Constanza Romero (Associate Artist and Costume Design), Thom Weaver (Lighting Design), and Dan Moses Schreier (Sound Design). Winnie Y. Lok is the Production Stage Manager.

Signature offers Student Rush tickets for extension performances. Subject to availability, Student Rush tickets will be sold for $25 when the Box Office opens each day up until performance time. The tickets are only available in person. The number of tickets varies from performance to performance. Limit two tickets per person. Valid student ID must be presented at the time of purchase.
