Actor Anthony Newfield has signed on to perform at this year's Broadway Blessing, taking place on Monday, September 8 at 7:00 pm in the landmark Church of the Transfiguration (commonly known as "The Little Church").

In addition to Newfield, this year's celebration of the new theatre season will feature a reflection by Tony-nominee and cabaret star Karen Akers, and performances by Jennifer Fouché, Project Dance, and the Broadway Blessing Choir under the direction of Dr. Claudia Dumschat.

The interfaith service was created in 1997 by author Retta Blaney, and is produced by The Little Church and The Episcopal Actors' Guild, which provides emergency assistance and support to local performers in crisis.

Karen Akers is an actor and singer best known for her performances in Broadway's Nine and Grand Hotel, films The Purple Rose of Cairo and Heartburn, and her two PBS concert specials. Anthony Newfield's credits include MTC's The Royal Family and Ivanov with Ethan Hawke. Jennifer Fouché is currently starring in Sistas the Musical.

The Church of the Transfiguration is located in Manhattan at 1 East 29th Street (between Fifth Avenue and Madison Avenue).

Broadway Blessing is free and open to all. Reservations are not necessary.
