Contemporary tap dance at its best will be on view this spring at the American Tap Dance Foundation's Rhythm in Motion shows, April 12 through 17 at the Theater at the 14th Street Y. Premiere choreographers and emerging talent will stretch boundaries to present groundbreaking choreography and innovative tap dance technique in two different programs, with six performances over five days. Michelle Dorrance, Leonardo Sandoval, Chloe Arnold and Caleb Teicher will be among the top tap talent presenting new choreography this year (choreographers and presentation dates below). See promo video here.

Rhythm in Motion is a theatrical platform enabling the art form to present, move forward and grow. The American Tap Dance Foundation has been lauded for preserving the history of tap dance as well as inspiring its evolution, presenting the forward thinking choreography driving the art form today.

"As recipient of the Dance Magazine Award for contributions to the art form, I feel obligated to keep presenting work that is literally fresh off the presses so that tap dance continues to expand, evolve and move into the future," said Tony Waag, Artistic/Executive Director of ATDF and the show's director and curator. "There is so much new work being created right now that needs to be seen and shared with audiences. Rhythm in Motion is a window into a family of voices, reactions, comments, celebrations and explorations of what is going on in the tap dance field today," he said.
