In their current offering, The Fabulous Lipitones, barbershop harmony takes center stage at George Street Playhouse. In this hilarious a cappella musical comedy, an Ohio-based quartet becomes a trio when their lead becomes victim to a (literally) heart-stopping b-flat on stage at the regional competition. Their frantic search for a replacement before the nationals leads them to "Bob," who's not exactly what they anticipated.

In the barbershop world, performances and competitions are frequently celebrated with an "afterglow" following the event. George Street Playhouse continues that tradition by offering two locally-based, award-winning quartets following the Saturday, November 29 and Wednesday, December 10 performances of The Fabulous Lipitones. These post-show events are free, with no cover or minimum and will be offered in the Playhouse's cabaret lobby space.

The bar and concessions will be open for the duration, offering libations and tempting snacks. For tickets and information, contact the George Street Playhouse Box Office, 732-246-7717 or visit www.GSPonline.org. George Street Playhouse is located at 9 Livingston Avenue, in the heart of New Brunswick's lively downtown. When planning your visit, visit www.GSPonline.org for dining and parking suggestions.

On Saturday, November 29:

UNTAMED (Jim Maitland of Rutherford, NJ; Pat Cerillo; Brian Lipe of Westfield, NJ and Jeff Winik of South Brunswick, NJ) was formed in 2004 and is an active member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. We sing four-part men's acappela music and have developed a broad repertoire of acapella songs including classic barbershop, as well as show tunes, popular music, holiday songs, do-wop and inspirational and patriotic music. The quartet enjoys popularity among audiences ranging from children to senior citizens and has performed for audiences ranging in size from 20 to 5000. Performance highlights include an appearance at the Iridium Jazz Club in Manhattan as a guest of Les Paul, famed electric guitar inventor (while Frankie Avalon watched and listened with a smile!).

On Wednesday, December 10:

FACES 4 RADIO (Bob Bristow of Ambler, PA; Brad Brooks of Harrisburg, PA; Mark Sanders of Douglassville, PA and Jeff Winik of South Brunswick, NJ) has experienced two incredible and very busy years together on both competition and show stages, as well as numerous private performances including: Baseballtown at First Energy Stadium with the Reading Fightin Phillies, the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts 2013, and a very moving volunteer performance at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital as representatives of the Musicians On Call program. This past January in Long Beach, CA., we were humbled and very proud to be named the Barbershop Harmony Society 2014 International Senior Quartet champions. faces4radioquartet.com.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director David Saint, George Street Playhouse has become a nationally recognized theatre, presenting an acclaimed mainstage season while providing an artistic home for established and emerging theatre artists. Kelly Ryman was appointed Managing Director in 2013. Founded in 1974, the Playhouse has been well represented by numerous productions both on and off-Broadway - recent productions include the Outer Critics' Circle Best Musical Award-winner The Toxic Avenger; the Outer Critics Circle, Drama Desk and Drama League nominated production of The Spitfire Grill; and the recent Broadway hit and Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning play Proof by David Auburn, which was developed at GSP during the 1999 Next Stage Series of new plays. In addition to its mainstage season, GSP's Touring Theatre features four issue-oriented productions that are seen by more than 40,000 students annually. George Street Playhouse programming is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
