The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye Tweeted today that Aaron Tveit will make his UK stage debut as 'John Wilkes Booth' in ASSASSINS, helmed by Jamie Lloyd at the Menier Chocolate Factory, beginning this Autumn.

Tveit told the Mail: "I've been dying to do a Sondheim show, and dying to work in the UK. Now I get to do both."

From November 21, the Chocolate Factory presents the musical ASSASSINS by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman.

Tveit will join a cast featuring Carly Bawden as Squeaky Fromme, Simon Lipkin as The Proprietor, Mike McShane as Samuel Byck, Andy Nyman as Charles Guiteau, David Roberts as Czolgosz and Catherine Tate as Sara Jane Moore.

The Chocolate Factory describes ASSASSINS as: "Thirteen people have tried to kill the president of the United States. Four have succeeded. These murderers and would-be murderers are generally dismissed as maniacs and misfits who have little in common with each other, and nothing in common with the rest of us. Assassins suggests otherwise..."

Director Lloyd is also currently helming RICHARD III (Trafalgar Studios), URINETOWN (Apollo) and THE COMMITMENTS (Palace Theatre) in the West End.

Tveit has appeared on Broadway in CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, NEXT TO NORMAL, WICKED and HAIRSPRAY. The former GOSSIP GIRL actor currently stars in the TV series GRACELAND and will next be seen on the big screen in Undrafted, Stereotypically You, Big Sky and They Might Be Kennedys. He also played 'Enjolras' in Tom Hooper's 2012 adaptation of LES MISERABLES.
