This week's THEATER TALK focuses on two productions beginning the 2015-16 theater season - An Act of God, a new comedy by 13-time Emmy Award winner David Javerbaum with Jim Parsons in the title role, and Cagney, The York Theatre Company's new musical based on the life of the beloved actor James Cagney.

First up, Javerbaum talks with co-hosts Michael Riedel of the New York Post and producer Susan Haskins about working with God (plus director Joe Mantello and designer Scott Pask) on An Act of God. The play evolved out of Javerbaum transcribing God's words for the best-selling book, The Last Testament: A Memoir by God and Javerbaum's ongoing responsibility posting God's thoughts on Twitter @TheTweetOfGod.

Next up is the creative team from Cagney, including its co-creator and star, Robert Creighton (also a Cagney lookalike) plus the musical's director Bill Castellino, and The York Theatre Company's Producing Artistic Director James Morgan. They share intriguing biographical elements from Cagney's life that inspired their show, and Morgan talks about his 40-year association with The York and the theater's unique niche in the New York City marketplace, as a production company entirely devoted to musicals.

This all-new THEATER TALK episode premieres in the New York metropolitan area Saturday, June 6 (2015) at 8:30 PM and re-airs Sunday 6/7 at 12:30 PM (as part of CUNY TV's day-long Tony® Awards marathon leading up to the Awards ceremony that evening. Because of Theater Talk's preemption on June 5th by Thirteen's Pledge Drive, THIRTEEN will broadcast this episode on Friday, June 19 at 1 AM.

THEATER TALK is jointly produced by the not-for-profits Theater Talk Productions and CUNY TV. The program is taped in the Himan Brown TV and Radio Studios at The City University of New York (CUNY) TV in Manhattan, and is distributed to 100+ participating public television stations nationwide. THEATER TALK is made possible in part by The New York State Council on the Arts, The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, The CUNY TV Foundation and The Friends of THEATER TALK.
