A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN Tickets to Go On Sale Today
Tickets will be on-sale to the general public beginning, today, July 6 for A NIGHT WITH Janis Joplin on Broadway. Hailed by The Washington Post as "a remarkable, exhilarating portrait of a singer in love with the cleansing embrace of the crowd," the new musical will begin preview performances at Broadway's Lyceum Theatre (149 W. 45th Street) on Friday, September 20th, with opening night set for Thursday, October 10th.
The production arrives in New York following acclaimed engagements at Portland Center Stage, Cleveland Play House, Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater, Pasadena Playhouse, and Milwaukee Repertory Theater.
Mary Bridget Davies has taken the country by storm with her critically acclaimed performance and will reprise her role on Broadway. "Producing a version of the Joplin screech that starts somewhere around the singer's ankles, wends its way up into the back of her throat and shoots off into the farthest reaches of the theater" (The Washington Post), Davies received the 2013 Cleveland Critics Circle Award for Best Actress in a Musical and was nominated for a 2013 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Resident Musical.
Like a comet that burns far too brightly to last, Janis Joplin (Mary Bridget Davies) exploded onto the music scene in 1967 for three incredible years, reigning as the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll. The unmistakable voice filled with raw emotion and tinged with Southern Comfort made her a must-see headliner from Monterey to Woodstock. A NIGHT WITH Janis Joplin is a musical journey celebrating the inspirations of one of Rock 'n' Roll's greatest legends.
Additional creative team and casting will be announced shortly.
