'A Chorus Line' Revival Celebrates 1st Anniversary on 10/5

The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning musical A Chorus Line celebrates its first year anniversary on Broadway Friday, October 5, 2007, at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 W 45th St).   Following a six-week run at San Francisco's Curran Theatre, A Chorus Line returned to Broadway for the first times since its original record-shattering run on September 18, 2006.  

The new, critically acclaimed production of A Chorus Line opened October 5, 2006 and continues to be a singular sensation at the box office having recouped the show's entire $8 million investment in 157 performances (19 weeks).  A Chorus Line broke the house record at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre 7 times in its first 5 months on Broadway.  A Chorus Line is produced by John Breglio for Vienna Waits Productions.

A Chorus Line is directed by its original Tony Award winning co-choreographer Bob Avian, conceived and originally choreographed and directed by Michael Bennett, with a book by James Kirkwood and Nicholas Dante, music by Marvin Hamlisch and lyrics by Edward Kleban, with the original choreography re-staged by Baayork Lee.  A Chorus Line is produced by John Breglio for Vienna Waits Productions.  Masterworks Broadway's 2006 Broadway cast recording of A Chorus Line is available in stores nationwide.

A Chorus Line features Nick Adams (Larry), Michael Berresse (Zach), Natalie Cortez (Diana), Charlotte D'Amboise (Cassie), Jessica Lee Goldyn (Val), Deidre Goodwin (Sheila), Michael Gruber (Greg), Bryan Knowlton (Paul), James T. Lane (Richie), Melissa Lone (Maggie), J. Elaine Marcos (Connie), Paul McGill (Mark), Heather Parcells (Judy), Krysta Rodriguez (Bebe), Jason Patrick Sands (Don), Jeffrey Schecter (Mike), Will Taylor (Bobby), Katherine Tokarz (Kristine) and Kevin Worley (Al) in a cast of 31 that includes Michelle Aravena, David Baum, Mike Cannon, E. Clayton Cornelious, Dena Digiacinto, Joey Dudding, Lyndy Franklin, Nadine Isenegger, Jessica Lea Patty, Kim Shriver, Grant Turner and Deone Zanotto.

The new production features scenery by Robin Wagner, costumes by Theoni V.Aldredge, lighting by Tharon Musser adapted by Natasha Katz and sound by Acme Sound Partners.  Musical direction and supervision is by Patrick Vaccariello, orchestrations are by Jonathan Tunick, Billy Byers and Hershey Kay and vocal arrangements are by Don Pippin.

A Chorus Line will launch a National tour at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts - Buell Theatre May 6-17, 2008.  Following its premiere in Denver, the National tour will settle in for a seven-week engagement at The

Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, May 21-July 6, 2008.  Plans are underway for the show to visit these cities in the 2008-2009 season: Philadelphia; Portland, Oregon; Costa Mesa; Seattle; Toronto and Washington, DC.

The original production of A Chorus Line opened at the Public Theater's Newman Theatre on May 21, 1975 and transferred to Broadway's Shubert Theatre on July 25th, opening there on October 19th of that year.  It won the

Pulitzer Prize for Drama, nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Score and Book, and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award.  It ran for nearly 15 years, closing on April 28, 1990 after 6,137 performances.

A Chorus Line remains the longest running American musical in Broadway history.
