It's April 3, 1968, the night before the assassination of DR. Martin Luther King Jr. A thunderstorm rages outside as a mysterious visitor arrives at the Lorraine Motel, forcing Dr. King to confront his destiny and his legacy. The Mountaintop won the 2010 Laurence Olivier Award (London's version of the Tony Award) for Best New Play.

Walter Coppage portrays MLK with Chioma Anyanwu as the mysterious visitor, a motel housekeeper who teaches him more than he ever imagines.

The Mountaintop plays on Unicorn Theatre's Mainstage located at 3828 Main Street, Kansas City, MO 64111.

The play runs tonight, June 5-30, 2013. Previews are June 5, 6 & 7. Opening Night is June 8.

Performances Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are at 7:30 pm, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm, and Sunday at 3:00 pm. Talk back performances, where patrons are encouraged to stay after the show and discuss the play with the actors and director, are scheduled forJune 11, 16, & 18.
