Presented by Royal Albert Hall associate artist Rhael ‘LionHeart’ Cape, and staged in-the-round, this special evening aims to reignite the prominence of contemporary British poetry with the help of some of today's most culturally-relevant and accomplished writers and performers. From recitals by Dylan Thomas, to an 18-year ban on poetry in 1966, to hosting the UK National Poetry Slam finals, the Royal Albert Hall has witnessed its fair share of poetical history. Now, the Hall will once again become a forum of ideas and expression to champion change, providing a platform for the nation’s foremost wordsmiths to address the issues we all face in our increasingly turbulent society. Performers George the Poet - Peabody Award-winner Harry Baker - World Slam Poetry Champion Kae Tempest - Mercury Prize-nominee and Sunday Times Bestseller Momtaza Mehri - Essayist and Young People’s Laureate of London Sophia Thakur - Bestselling author and songwriter Suli Breaks - YouTube sensation Theresa Lola - Former Young People’s Laureate for London Toby Campion - Playwright and UK Poetry Slam Champion
