Author and actor C.J. Carter-Stephenson will be performing his readers theatre show Tales in the Key of Terror at St. Mary's Church in Brighton as part of the 2024 Brighton Fringe Festival. Prepare to be scared as he brings two of his horror stories vividly to life with words, projected images and an immersive soundscape. This storytelling extravaganza will take you from the wilds of the Old West to the far reaches of space.
In the first story, And Justice For One, a cowboy finds himself being haunted when he accidentally kills a child in a saloon. Taking its cue from horror pioneers like M.R. James and Edgar Allan Poe, it's an eerie tale of gambling, gunfights and things that go bump on the prairie. Next on the programme is Destination Earth, a creepy science fiction story in the vein of movies like Alien and Event Horizon, in which an astro-investigator travels up into space to find out why a mining ship has failed to reach its destination.
C.J. is staging the show in St. Mary' Church, as its atmosperic surroundings are perfectly suited to the content. See the spooks, hear the screams and have a howling good time. Dramatic and fast-paced Tales in the Key of Terror is an event you won't soon forget.
