“Samsonite Funeral” explores loss in a place of perpetual departure where gates and borders become a reminder of everything we’ve lost. A tragi-comedy about the chaos of travel and a painful reminder of the politics involved in migration.

Nicole Schretlen Montes is an actress-director from Colombia and The Netherlands who imbues the words with her personal experiences around migration, family, and heritage. This one-woman show is her writing debut on stage, and she masterfully plays all characters while being accompanied by an ensemble of dancers who move to the rhythm of the airport.
