Don't Look at Me: A modern retelling of Medusa at Lion & Unicorn Theatre

Don’t Look At Me is a darkly funny reimagining of Greek mythology that reclaims Medusa’s story through a contemporary feminist lens. Written and performed by Anais Gralpois and directed by Julia Sopher, the play explores identity, isolation and the consequences of being labeled a monster by others. The story follows the tense unexpectedly steamy relationship between Medusa and Perseus who are forbidden from making eye contact. As hostility turns into intimacy the production questions who is truly monstrous and why. Blending myth with modern themes, Don’t Look At Me offers a charged enemies-to-lovers retelling about the need to be seen.
