The Happy Mondays legend joins us for a candid Q&A.

Shaun Ryder is from Salford, Greater Manchester, where in 1980 he formed Happy Mondays. The band signed to Factory Records and their releases included the two classic albums ‘Bummed’ in 1988 followed by ‘Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches’ in 1990. Later Shaun started Black Grape releasing the album ‘It’s Great When You’re Straight.. Yeah’. Following his achievements with both bands he received the ‘Godlike Genius Award’ from NME in 2000.

Now a household name thanks to his regular TV appearances, coming runner up on ‘I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!’ in 2010 and guesting on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside Happy Mondays bandmate Bez.

Shaun published his autobiography ‘Twisting My Melon’ in 2011 and last year released his second solo album ‘Visits From Future Technology'. He's still touring and playing festivals with Happy Mondays and Black Grape along with his solo Q&A events taking place all over the UK.

Join Shaun as he discusses his life, career & the music industry, and takes part in a Q&A with the audience afterwards.

Cast

Helen Hope

Gillian Holroyd
Lifelong ballet/jazz/tap/modern dancer honored to be playing her first leading role in a non-dance production. Teaching artist certified in the methodologies of American Ballet Theatre and Mark Morris Dance Group. Proud alumna of Governor's School for the Arts (musical-theatre department), Broadway Theatre Project, and Interlochen Arts Camp. More at helenrhope.com.

Michael Stypulkoski

Shepherd "Shep" Henderson
Michael is excited to be back at the Little Theatre of Norfolk! This is his second show at LTN, following last fall’s production of An Ideal Husband, where he played the role of Lord Arthur Goring. Other recent roles include Mac Sam in the Little Theatre of Virginia Beach’s production of The Miss Firecracker Contest and Benvolio in Shakespeare in the Plot’s Romeo & Juliet. He would like to thank the cast and crew for being such a pleasure to work with, and the audience for coming to the show!

Victoria Blake

Queenie
Victoria has been in over 100 theatre, film, and TV productions. Favorite roles include Mayella in To Kill a Mockingbird, Dunyasha in The Cherry Orchard, Paulina in The Winter's Tale, and Emma in Pterodactyls.

Ryan Jennings

Nicky Holroyd
My first taste of stepping on stage was doing mostly short form improv and some long form. I am a proud cast alumni of the annual “The 666: A Horror Anthology Show” at Push Comedy Theater, where I got my start/crash course in theatrical productions. And finally my most recent show to date was a WWII era drama at LTN, titled “The Ribbon Mill.”

Drew Willis

Sidney Redlitch
Present Laughter and An American Daughter at LTVB. One Slight Hitch, The Ribbon Mill, and Pippin at LTN.

"Morrie" Cormorant Stein

Pyewacket
Bell, Book, and Candle is my first show ever -- but my adopted family is very theatrical.

Creative Team

Julia Stein

Director
Julia graduated from Oglethorpe University, in Atlanta, with a BA in Theatre and a minor in Shakespearean Studies. She is excited to be returning to the Hampton Roads area and looks forward to being involved in more productions at The Little Theatre of Norfolk. Julia would like to thank her family and especially her fiancé for their constant support and encouragement. Julia Stein has always wanted to be a fairy princess. She thinks this is the next best thing.

Leah Beth Thompson

Assistant Director
I have a bachelor’s degree in Theatre from Mississippi University for Women. I have performed in various roles in both stage and film in the Hampton Roads area. I’m hoping to start looking at graduate schools for acting/directing soon.

Kari VanderLaan

Stage Manager
Kari is thrilled to be making her debut as a LTN collaborator. She was most recently stage manager/light and sound board operator for Race at The Generic Theater. She is incredibly proud of this cast and crew and hopes this show awakens a little magic in each of you.

Melissa Maniglia

Co-Props Designer
Melissa Maniglia (Co-Props Designer): Previous prop designs include Dracula, The Importance of Being Earnest and Present Laughter at LTVB. Onstage she has been seen locally as “Miss Willie” in The Curious Savage and “Mary Ruth Sickles” in The Ribbon Mill at LTN, as well as the “Female Authority Figure” in Hairspray at LTVB. As a stage manager she has worked on Ken Ludwig's Baskerville, A Simple Romance, and Andre’s Mother/Mother’s and Sons, all at LTVB. Many thanks to Julia, Jackie, her fellow production team members, and the cast & crew of Bell, Book & Candle! Melissa is the proud adopter of her Pandemic Rescue Pup, Murphy!
