Bonnie Bounces Off To Broadway
Our very own Bonnie Langford is to appear as a special guest in the New York production of 'Chicago' as Roxie Hart
She has already played two West End seasons in the show.

Bonnie Bounces Off To Broadway

Bonnie is a true professional and one of the nicest ladies in the business with an incredible list of shows behind her from 'Me And My Girl', 'Sweet Charity', 'Oklahoma!', 'Little Shop of Horrors' etc etc and a panto every year too.
Her stage debut was in the original Drury Lane 'Gone With The Wind' and that was quickly followed by appearing in the only production of 'Gypsy' to play the West End. She played June opposite Angela Lansbury!

The ill fated production of 'Sweet Charity' which she funded.
Bonnie Bounces Off To Broadway

'Peter Pan' almost every year.

This is EXCELLENT news - Ms. Langford will certainly bring an air of professionalism to the slack Broadway production and she's such a treat to watch.

That was the Broadway musical you would have seen at the Aldwych in 1985.
Joss Ackland was Mr Darling/Cpt Hook.
Made famous by Mary Martin on Broadway, the Aldwych production was the first time that show had been seen in the U.K, all the other productions she has done since have been the pantomime versions.

Think it was the same show, but it was on tour. Definately didnt see it in London, was in Southampton. Got the programme at home somewhere (complete with production pics!), Winsor Davis MAY have been Hook, not 100% sure on that one though.

It toured for 3 months after its Christmas in London.
A great show and one that puts all the others to shame.

Isn't it funny, for a while Bonnie was one of the most mocked people in the West End. There was one night famous for a series of celebration parties for one particular occasion- those who remember will know what I mean. The funny thing is, she shrugged it all off and carried on working in her own good-humoured and classy way. I think she's terrific and I'm delighted she's getting this opportunity.

I think she most closely channels Gwen Verdon out of any Roxie I've seen.

I exactly what your talking about.
She was so very undeserving of al that mockery in the 80s.
Not many of those went against her can say that they have been in constant employment the way she has.
Good on her!

She was the most poorly written Dr Who girl in the programme's history.

Though if you listen to her appearances on the Big Finish audios she really shines.

Yeah - c'mon Dev don't be so cliquey.

I saw Bonnie in the 75th birthday Sondheim tribute and she was sensationally good doing Sooner Or Later. I know people who went to the after-show party and apparently Eartha Kitt (who was also there) had seen her and assumed she must be a major, major star here.

It seems to me that she always gives 150% just to prove that there is so much more to her than - dare I mention - Violet Elizabeth Bott.

Major kudos to her, she really deserves this...
The great thing with human brains is they're fanless, nice and quiet although I'm sure mine whistles a bit sometimes.

She oozes charisma all the time. My brother and I saw her in Midhurst the other day (Lord knows what she was doing there of all places). It was quite early in the morning so the streets were empty and she beamed at us as she bounded past in her big sunglasses. My brother, one of the most "Grrr, football!", "I'm goin' daaahn the bookies", "Gimme a Stella", "Whatchoo lookin' at?", "I f*cked her in the sh*tter" type louts you could ever have the pleasure of meeting, fell to pieces. "That was Bonnie Langford! Bonnie f*cking Langford! She f*cking smiled at me!" Actually, he's the only person I've attended Wicked with who noticed the Evita reference... there may be something he's not telling me.
