OK, I'd go for Roger Allam and Elena Roger, Clybourne Park and Passion, (it would be so funny if Les Mis lost again!), Howard Davies and Bunny Christie, (though prince of Homburg was my choice), with no opinion on the final 2, though with doubts about the Blood Brothers nod!

I think Zoe Wannamaker and Benedict Cumberbatch deserved nominations too.

Have they always mixed plays and musicals in the Best Actor/Actress categories or is this new?

The Standard's awards (aside from the Ned Sherrin) are for plays and musicals both. Normally they don't nominate anything or anyone from a musical, so it's quite impressive to see both Smith and Roger get nominations.

Hurray for Nick Payne, who I vaguely know! Well deserved nomination, may it lead to great things.

My picks:

ACTOR - Kinnear
ACTRESS - can't call it; Smith would cap off some marvellous PR, Thompson is doing the West End transfer, Carroll was magnificent (and at the National) and Roger missed out on anything for Evita, so...
PLAY - Clybourne Park
MUSICAL - Passion. These are snobby awards.
DIRECTOR - Sharrock or Davies
DESIGN - Buether

No idea on the others really. Does You Me Bum Bum Train count as a newcomer, though? I'm sure it's been done in town before. Although maybe if it wins they might revive it and I could actually get a ticket for it...
