The opera follows a couple who discover two injured angels in their garden, with the story examining exploitation and human trafficking. The score combines multiple musical styles, including medieval polyphony, punk, electronics, chamber music, and cabaret, with a libretto by Royce Vavrek.
The production is led by conductor Baldur Brönniman and features a cast including Allison Cook, Rodney Earl Clarke, Mariam Wallentin, Matthew McKinney, and Keith Pun. The creative team includes designer Marg Horwell, lighting designer Jack Knowles, video designer Ash J Woodward, and co-sound designers Dominic Bilkey and Joseph Reiser.
The Manchester run will be presented in collaboration with Factory International and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, while the London performances will feature the Orchestra of ENO. BBC Radio 3 will record the production in Manchester for broadcast in June 2026.
