The Witness: Incidents of the War of the Rebellion at Shepherd University - Frank Center for the Arts

Composed by Thomas LaVoy and based on the 1888 memoir of Union soldier James Waxler, this staged choral work brings a personal account of the Civil War to life through choral music, theater, and spoken storytelling. The cast includes Sean Watkinson as James Waxler, with mezzo-soprano soloist Brittany Chanell Johnson. The production is led by Renatum Artistic Director Dr. Jason Strunk, composer Thomas LaVoy, and stage director Maria Watson. A reception and conversation with the creative team follows the Saturday evening performance.
