Feature: FIDDLER ON THE ROOF at ACTORS GUILD OF PARKERSBURG Fiddler on the Roof is a beloved musical, featuring iconic songs such as "If I Were a Rich Man," "Sunrise, Sunset," and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker." The story is based on the tales of Tevye and his Daughters by Sholem Aleichem, originally written in Yiddish between the years of 1894 and 1914 and dealing with Jewish life during the turn of the 20th century.

The play centers on a poor milkman, named Tevye (R.J. Lowe), who lives in the small village of Anatevka and is trying his best to provide a good life for his five daughters. Faced with the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia, Tevye fights to instill traditional values in his daughters despite the changing social mores of the era. The story follows Tevye as he struggles with his daughters' stubbornness and desire to marry outside of his regular faith customs, as well as with the Tsar's edict evicting Jews from their villages. What follows is a stirring tale that deftly mixes comedy, drama, and historical detail that is sure to leave audiences enthralled.

This production of Fiddler on the Roof is directed by Barbara Full.
