Choreography by Marius Petipa / Adaptation by Xin Lili
This performance will be audio described.
Internationally acclaimed for its refined technique and expressive artistry, Shanghai Ballet stands among Asia’s foremost ballet companies. In Giselle, the company pairs virtuosic precision with poignant storytelling. Called “technically exquisite and emotionally moving” (Ottawa Citizen), the production traces a young peasant girl’s love, heartbreak, and transformation into one of the ethereal Wilis. From buoyant village dances to the otherworldly white ballet of Act II, this Romantic masterpiece highlights the company’s expressive range and luminous ensemble work.
This performance is appropriate for all ages.
Run time: approximately one hour and 100 minutes, plus intermission
