Naut Human Productions transforms the historic stone cellar of Aldie Mill into Annie Wilkes’ isolated home for an intensely intimate, site-specific production of William Goldman’s stage adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery. With only 40 audience members per performance, the cellar’s rough stone walls, low ceilings, and claustrophobic atmosphere surround the action, placing guests just feet from the escalating battle of control, obsession, and survival. Raw, suspenseful, and uncomfortably close, this is Misery as it was meant to be experienced: trapped inside the room with Annie and Paul.

Following a devastating car accident during a brutal winter storm, celebrated novelist Paul Sheldon awakens injured and trapped in the secluded home of Annie Wilkes—his devoted self-proclaimed “number one fan.” But as Annie’s hospitality gives way to obsession, Paul finds himself at the mercy of a woman whose love for his work has no limits. Cut off from the outside world, he must fight to outwit his captor before her devotion turns deadly.
