KENYA'S SOUL: THE MUSICAL

A Powerful New Musical About Love, Legacy, Betrayal, and the Courage to Reclaim Your Story

What happens when everything you believe about your family, your identity, and your past is built on a lie?

From the privileged streets of Brooklyn's Golden City to the vibrant landscapes of Kenya and South Africa, Kenya's Soul: The Musical takes audiences on an unforgettable journey of self-discovery, ancestral awakening, and healing.

At the center of the story is Kenya Mugabo, a young woman whose seemingly perfect world begins to unravel as buried family secrets, forbidden relationships, and painful truths threaten everything she has ever known. Determined to reclaim her identity, Kenya embarks on a transformative journey across continents, discovering that the greatest power we possess is the courage to remember who we are.

Featuring a breathtaking original score that blends gospel, soul, R&B, African musical influences, and contemporary musical theatre, Kenya's Soul is an emotionally charged theatrical experience filled with electrifying performances, stirring vocals, powerful storytelling, and moments of unexpected joy.

Written and composed by Dr. Tyrone Stanley, this world-premiere production features the extraordinary talents of Morgan State University's BFA Musical Theatre students alongside acclaimed professional guest artists, including Broadway actress Rosena Hill-Jackson (The Color Purple, Ragtime, Carousel, After Midnight), soprano and Morgan State alumna Brittani McNeill, gospel recording artist Brandon Gaines, bass-baritone Jim Williams, and recording artist and actress Shannon Ramey Floyd.

More than a musical, Kenya's Soul is a celebration of Black womanhood, ancestral wisdom, family, resilience, and the enduring power of love. It challenges audiences to confront the past, embrace the truth, and discover the freedom that comes with healing.

Some stories are inherited. Others must be reclaimed.

Experience the music. Witness the journey. Discover Kenya's Soul.
