Join Flying V and take to the stars with manga & pop culture icon ASTRO BOY and his creator, Osamu Tezuka – the “Father of Manga” - for this exciting, retro-futuristic race against time and discover, what’s the human cost of creation? Live the Origin Story of one of anime's most legendary heroes in this multimedia spectacular featuring puppetry, digital projections, & live performance. Rocket through all ten “episodes” of this explosive and emotional story in a single performance every night.
Created by Natsu Onoda Power, ASTRO BOY & THE GOD OF COMICS was first produced at the Studio Theatre; an earlier version of the play was developed by Live Action Cartoonists.

Natsu Onoda Power specializes in adaptation of non-dramatic literature into new works of visual theater. Original works include Thumbelina (Imagination Stage), The Lathe of Heaven (Spooky Action Theater, Helen Hayes Awards for Best New Adaptation and Best Scenic Design), The T Party (writer/ director, Forum Theatre/ Company One), Astro Boy and the God of Comics (writer/ director, The Studio Theatre; Company One Theatre; Natsu holds a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University, and is the author of God of Comics: Osamu Tezuka and the Creation of Post World War II Manga (The University Press of Mississippi, 2009).
Flying V is performing arts nonprofit in Montgomery County, MD specializing in pop culture infused works that span the stage, digital media, and stage combat/professional wrestling. We are known for larger-than-life moments on small stages, and immersive world building that connect audiences, regardless of medium, with the stories we tell as well as each other.
