Decca Broadway, a frequent contributor of Broadway cast recordings and movie musical soundtracks, is a subsidary of Universal Music Group, therefore all its releases have been taken off TikTok. This includes Wicked, Mamma Mia, Les Miserables, SHREK the Musical, Phantom of the Opera, Spring Awakening, Cats, Evita, and more.

The Broadway community will honor the memory of Chita Rivera by dimming the lights of Broadway theatres.

BroadwayWorld is deeply saddened to report the passing of Broadway icon Chita Rivera, who, as shared by her beloved daughter Lisa Mordente, died peacefully on January 30, 2024 in New York after a brief illness.

The Loukoumi Foundation will honor Chita Rivera at a benefit event at Bond 45, in which she will accept the foundation's first Make a Difference ICON Award.

Titled after a playful twist on the expression ‘Seventh Heaven’ meaning a state of extreme happiness, SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN is a joyous celebration of the band’s journey thus far. Its official release was accompanied by the music video for the lead single “God of Music,” a cheerful soul funk track embellished with sounds of synths and brass.

Winners for the 2023 Chita Rivera Awards were announced this evening. In keeping with the mission of the Chita Rivera Awards, nominators considered outstanding choreography, featured dancers, and ensembles in shows on Broadway and Off Broadway, as well as outstanding choreography in film that opened during the 2022-2023 season.

Presenters and performances have been announced for the 2023 Chita Rivera Awards, taking place on May 22 at 7:30pm at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place off Washington Square Park).

A theatrical icon and one of Broadway's greatest triple-threat talents, Chita Rivera is one of the most nominated performers in Tony Award history having earned 10 nominations, won twice and she received the 2018 Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre.
