Step into the enchanting world of The Lost Words: A Spell Book, where whimsy meets wonder in a musical journey inspired by the bestselling book by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris. Featuring evocative compositions by ten Canadian composers, this magical experience brings to life the “spells” and watercolours intended to reconnect us with nature.
Join us as actor Laara Sadiq breathes life into each spell, then enjoy its performance by Elektra and six instrumentalists. Together we embark on a heartfelt celebration, immersing ourselves in the literary reawakening of childhood through spoken word, gorgeous watercolour projections, and spellbinding melodies.
A pre-concert chat with Sean Bickerton, the BC Director of the Canadian Music Centre, and Artistic Director Morna Edmundson will take place 30 minutes before each performance, providing a fascinating glimpse into the programme.
