Winner of the 2008 Yehudi Menuhin Competition, virtuoso Ray Chen is one of the purest violinists in the world today, displaying a rare depth of musicality in all his performances. The year 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of the birth of Jean Sibelius, whose haunting, lyrical Violin Concerto highlights this program that also includes Beethoven’s famous Seventh Symphony, and a work by the VSO’s own Marcus Goddard.
