Wolverhampton Grand Theatre Goes Gatsby
From the Charleston and Black Bottom of the 1920s through the beautiful classic songs of the 1930s, to swing and jazz mayhem, Michael Law's Piccadilly Dance Orchestra and the Gatsby Girls, join the team at the Grand Theatre for a party night of razzle dazzle, featuring some of the greatest dance music of the golden jazz era.
Michael Law, founder of the world-famous Piccadilly Dance Orchestra is also a renowned singer and pianist with a special affinity for the superb comic and sentimental songs of Sir Noël Coward. Michael took part in Radio 2's Noël Coward centenary celebration, Radio 2's three-part series about Coward (hosted by Neil Tennant) and recorded a hitherto unrecorded Coward song for a Radio 4 programme about Marie Stopes. He was featured both with his orchestra and as a commentator on BBC 4's highly successful programmes Len Goodman's Dancing Feet and Len Goodman's Dance Band Days.
With authentic steps from the Charleston to the Black Bottom, The Gatsby Girls are known for transporting you back to an era with energy and style. They will show off their fancy footwork, high kicks and fabulous tricks.
With the best tunes of the Art Deco Era on stage, the atmosphere will continue into the bars and foyers, which were recently refurbished in a style that compliments the 'Gatsby' era.
GRAND THEATRE GATSBY NIGHT will transport you back to a world of sophistication, glitz and glamour, delighting your senses with the flapper fun and frolics of the 1920s. There is a complimentary glass of fizz for every ticket holder. Arrivals are from 6.30pm to allow time for soaking up the atmosphere - Gatsby dress is encouraged.
