Corn Exchange Newbury Will Reveals Lineup of Dance, Circus, Ballet and Magic This Summer
INTOTO Dance, IN A PICKLE CIRCUS, and more will take the stage at the Newbury venue.
Corn Exchange Newbury has announced its summer season of dance, circus, ballet and illusion, with a vibrant line-up of performances set to entertain and inspire audiences of all ages.
Contemporary dance takes centre stage as INTOTO Dance (Thursday 4 June) return to Newbury with a compelling triple bill showcasing three striking new works from some of the freshest dancers in choreography today. Under the artistic direction of Edd Mitton, the company's ensemble of excitingly physical young dancers will perform new pieces by Faye Tan, Jack Webb and Tommaso Petrolo. Reflecting the breadth and vibrancy of the contemporary dance scene, the performance promises an evening that will delight dedicated dance enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
Families looking for fun, spectacle and laughter can enjoy The Curtain Calls (Tuesday 23 June) from In A Pickle Circus, a brand-new production exploring the colourful world of traditional circus life on the road. Created by a collection of hugely talented emerging performers trained at Circomedia in Bristol, one of Europe's leading schools of circus and physical theatre, the show combines riveting acrobatics, daring aerial performances, remarkable juggling and hilarious clowning with creativity and heart. Packed with silliness and sensational skill, it promises a joyful theatrical experience for audiences of all ages.
The Corn Exchange Newbury also welcomes back Ballet Cymru this summer with a magical reimagining of Sleeping Beauty (Wednesday 1 July) as the company celebrates their 40th anniversary. Set to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's iconic score, the production journeys into an enchanted world of love, magic and destiny while exploring themes of acceptance and individuality. Featuring innovative choreography, exceptional dancing, distinctive costumes and immersive projections, the performance offers audiences a breathtaking retelling of the classic fairytale.
Rounding off the summer programme is Richard Jones and his spectacular new show, The Sound of Magic (Saturday 4 July). As the first and only magician to win Britain's Got Talent, Richard Jones has captivated audiences across the country with his blend of storytelling, music and extraordinary illusion. In this brand-new production, audiences can expect never-before-seen tricks, astonishing moments of wonder and an uplifting theatrical experience exploring the powerful connection between music and imagination.
