Belgrade Community & Education Company's PRONOUN to Run 13-15 March at B2 Auditorium

By:

The Belgrade Community & Education Company's production of Pronoun takes to the stage in the B2 Auditorium from Thursday 13 - Saturday 15 March as part of National Theatre Connections 2014. This shows offers some of the most talented performers from the Belgrade's Youth Theatre their first opportunity to take part in this renowned national festival.

Each year the National Theatre invites ten writers to create new plays for young people to perform. This spring, 220 youth theatre companies will present the premieres of these plays in venues throughout the UK. Ten companies will then go on to perform at the National Theatre Connections which celebrates great new writing for the stage - and the energy, commitment and talent of young theatre-makers.

Written by Evan Placey, Pronoun tells the story of Dean, a boy trapped in a girl's body who has finally decided to do something about it. But how does this decision affect not only him, but also his family, friends and those around him?

Leon Phillips, Drama Worker with the Belgrade said, "From the selection of plays, this piece really stood out for us. The actors have thoroughly enjoyed getting to grips with the relationships and the impact decisions have on all the characters involved. And directing it has been a joy - we can't wait to perform it in front of audiences."

The Belgrade Theatre has a strong history of Youth Theatre, with the first groups being set up by the Theatre in Education Company as part of their service for young people in the 1960s. The theatre currently runs two 'in-house' youth theatres: 12 - 15 years and 16 - 25 years with the Belgrade Young Company being established to provide young people with the opportunity to experience projects more closely mirroring the environment of a professional rehearsal and production process.

Pronoun will be performed on the B2 Stage from Thurs 13 - Sat 15 Mar. Tickets are free but with a request for donations to support the work of the Belgrade Community & Education Company.

Seats are unreserved but must be booked through the box office on 024 7655 3055 or via www.belgrade.co.uk
