O musical segue o excêntrico inventor Caractacus Potts, seus filhos Jeremy e Jemima, e Truly Scrumptious enquanto eles embarcam em uma aventura em um carro com uma grande personalidade.

Elenco de Chitty Chitty Bang Bang conta com Christian Edwards (Jesus Christ Superstar no Watermill Theatre, A Christmas Carol no Sheffield Crucible) como Caractacus Potts e Lydia Louise fazendo sua estreia profissional no papel de Truly Scrumptious. O vovô Potts é interpretado por Mark Curry (Wicked no Apollo Theatre, The Rocky Horror Show na turnê do Reino Unido) e Susannah van den Berg (Fiddler on the Roof no Barbican e na turnê do Reino Unido, Oliver! no Watermill Theatre) interpreta The Childcatcher.

No papel de Baron Bomburst está Samuel Morgan-Grahame (Jesus Christ Superstar e Sweet Charity no Watermill, Amelie no West End e na turnê do Reino Unido); Mairi Ikegami (Your Lie In April com Carter Dixon McGill Productions, Aladdin com UK Productions) interpreta a Baroness Bomburst; Sam Pay (Witness For The Prosecution com Eleanor Lloyd, Piaf no Watermill Theatre) é Boris/Lord Scrumptious; no papel de Goran/Onstage MD está Alexander Zane (Jesus Christ Superstar no Watermill Theatre, Jack and the Beanstalk com Hopkins Associates), The Toymaker/Onstage Deputy MD é interpretado por Reuben Greeph (The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe no Leeds Playhouse, Cabaret no Playhouse Theatre) e Theo Diedrick (The (Beat) Rover com The Thelmas, Jack and the Beanstalk no Liverpool Everyman Theatre) interpreta Coggins. O elenco conjunto inclui Tasha Chu (Dança Capitã), Sameer Dhanjee, Georgie Hales, Javai James, Maya Khatri Chhetri e Josh Rosewood.

O papel de Jeremy é compartilhado por Francis Adams, Bodhi Allnutt, Elijah Bailey e Lucas Froud, e o papel de Jemima é compartilhado por Auora Breslin, Juyoung Chang, Sophie George e Aila McLeish.

Com músicas e letras de Richard M Sherman e Robert B Sherman, adaptado para o palco por Jeremy Sams, e baseado no filme da MGM, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang será dirigido pelo Diretor Artístico do Watermill, Paul Hart, que anteriormente dirigiu Jesus Christ Superstar e O Senhor dos Anéis.
