El musical sigue al excéntrico inventor Caractacus Potts, a sus hijos Jeremy y Jemima, y a Truly Scrumptious mientras se embarcan en una aventura en un coche con una gran personalidad.

El elenco de Chitty Chitty Bang Bang cuenta con Christian Edwards (Jesus Christ Superstar en el Watermill Theatre, A Christmas Carol en Sheffield Crucible) como Caractacus Potts y Lydia Louise haciendo su debut profesional en el papel de Truly Scrumptious. El abuelo Potts es interpretado por Mark Curry (Wicked en el Apollo Theatre, The Rocky Horror Show para la gira del Reino Unido) y Susannah van den Berg (Fiddler on the Roof en el Barbican y gira del Reino Unido, Oliver! en el Watermill Theatre) interpreta al Cazador de Niños.

En el papel del barón Bomburst está Samuel Morgan-Grahame (Jesus Christ Superstar y Sweet Charity en el Watermill, Amelie en el West End y gira del Reino Unido); Mairi Ikegami (Your Lie In April con Carter Dixon McGill Productions, Aladdin con UK Productions) interpreta a la baronesa Bomburst; Sam Pay (Witness For The Prosecution con Eleanor Lloyd, Piaf en el Watermill Theatre) es Boris/Lord Scrumptious; en el papel de Goran/MD en el escenario está Alexander Zane (Jesus Christ Superstar en el Watermill Theatre, Jack and the Beanstalk con Hopkins Associates), el Fabricante de Juguetes/Deputado MD en el escenario es interpretado por Reuben Greeph (The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe en el Leeds Playhouse, Cabaret en el Playhouse Theatre) y Theo Diedrick (The (Beat) Rover con The Thelmas, Jack and the Beanstalk en el Liverpool Everyman Theatre) interpreta a Coggins. El elenco de conjunto incluye a Tasha Chu (Capitana de Danza), Sameer Dhanjee, Georgie Hales, Javai James, Maya Khatri Chhetri y Josh Rosewood.

El papel de Jeremy es compartido por Francis Adams, Bodhi Allnutt, Elijah Bailey y Lucas Froud, y el papel de Jemima es compartido por Auora Breslin, Juyoung Chang, Sophie George y Aila McLeish.

Los Niños de Vulgaria serán interpretados por Chika Atakorah, Felix Brims, Amelia Cartwright, Willow Daniels, Roko Duckling, Ivy Evans, Rafe Evans, Cosmo French, Hugo Haworth, Asha Ibrahim, Imogen Jermey, Sophie Jones, Sam Llewellyn, Florence Martin, Kweji Sameke, Wilf Seymour, Cassia Tipp y Audrey Williams.

Con música y letras de Richard M Sherman y Robert B Sherman, adaptado para el escenario por Jeremy Sams, y basado en la película de MGM, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang será dirigido por el Director Artístico del Watermill, Paul Hart, quien anteriormente dirigió Jesus Christ Superstar y The Lord of the Rings.
