If the Stars Were Mine, l'album di debutto di Claybourne Elder, noto soprattutto per il ruolo da protagonista in "The Gilded Age" di HBO e in Company a Broadway, esce oggi in una speciale edizione in vinile, venerdì 24 luglio.

Elder è attualmente protagonista nella fortunata ripresa Off-Broadway di Little Shop of Horrors. È inoltre uno degli interpreti dello spettacolo immersivo We Chose to Go to the Moon – registrato al Carnegie Hall e diretto dal vincitore del Tony Award Michael Mayer – che debutterà su PBS questo autunno. Recentemente ha recitato nella produzione Encores! del New York City Center di Michael John LaChiusa, The Wild Party.
Con arrangiamenti musicali sensibili e appassionati – alternando sonorità pop ispirate al jazz swing – If the Stars Were Mine presenta i numeri preferiti di Elder dai musical di Broadway, spaziando da Sunday in the Park with George e Floyd Collins a Into the Woods e If/Then, oltre a brani resi celebri da Whitney Houston, Eartha Kitt e Melody Gardot, intrecciando temi di sesso, paternità e religione. Elder ha portato lo spettacolo dal vivo davanti a sold-out in tutto il Paese.
Claybourne Elder è candidato ai Grammy, SAG, Drama Desk e Lucille Lortel. Ha interpretato John Adams nella popolare serie HBO "The Gilded Age" ed è stato recentemente visto a Broadway nella rinascita premiata con il Tony Award di Company, al fianco di Patti LuPone. È noto per le sue interpretazioni a Broadway in Bonnie and Clyde, Sunday in the Park with George, Torch Song e Sondheim on Sondheim al Hollywood Bowl. Nel 2022, Elder ha avviato un'iniziativa chiamata City of Strangers per fornire biglietti gratuiti per spettacoli di Broadway a persone che altrimenti non ne avrebbero i mezzi. Sono stati donati oltre 3.000 biglietti e il progetto ha ottenuto un'attenzione inaspettata a livello nazionale, venendo presentato in "This American Life", "CBS This Morning" e "The Kelly Clarkson Show."
