YENSA Festival is an international biennial event celebrating the contributions of Black women in dance, taking place from August 21 to 25, 2024, in Toronto. This year's theme focuses on the Black body as a vessel of memories and the transformative power of movement. The festival features a variety of performances, workshops, and a panel discussion with contributions from choreographers such as Shérane Figaro, I’thandi Munro, and Olivia Okonkwo. Curator Lua Shayenne aims to highlight the artistic excellence of women from African and Afro-diasporic cultures while fostering community engagement and exploration of diverse dance forms.
