Deon Denton

Miss Effie
Deon Denton is an accomplished writer, director, and actor, serving as the Artistic Director at Promise Productions. She spearheaded the creative vision behind the musical "Pieces of Me" at Canada Christian College (2008) and Theatre Passe Muraille (2013). Deon's talent shines through in her multi-faceted involvement in the unforgettable "Charlie’s Having a Baby," a standout production at the 2009 and 2012 Toronto Fringe Festivals, where she penned, starred in, and directed the piece. Her emotionally resonant play, "No Visible Scars," garnered acclaim at the New York Fringe Festival (Off-Off Broadway). Additionally, Deon explored the effects of alcoholism in the poignant "To Jane with Love," which captivated audiences at both the 2016 Toronto Fringe and the Midtown Theatre Festival (Off-Off Broadway). Notably, she wrote, directed, and delivered a stellar performance in the ensemble-driven "Things We Lost in The Fire," which premiered at the Toronto Fringe Festival and Streetcar Crowsnest.


Lizette Mynhardt

The Compliant Wife
Lizette Mynhardt is an actor and singer from Outlook, Saskatchewan, currently based in Toronto. She is drawn to works that highlight the extraordinary within the ordinary: stories that explore relationships, the complexity of love, and human nature. Lizette has an associate degree in acting from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts (NYC) and 10 years of classical vocal training. She is represented by FilmComm Talent. Lizette is thankful for the opportunity to reprise her role as The Compliant Wife, and excited to share the story of Things We Lost in The Fire with a wider audience. She hopes you enjoy the show!


Joshua Bishop

The Abusive Husband
Joshua Bishop, a multi-talented artist based in Hamilton, ON, graduated with distinction from Toronto Film School’s Acting for Film, Television, and Theatre program. Known for his profound vulnerability and raw emotion, Joshua crafts compelling characters on stage and screen, blending technique with instinct. Alongside dramatic roles, his passion for satirical and awkward comedy shines through. In 2023, Joshua debuted as a director with "Irreverent," a film exploring family dynamics, earning him three nominations at the TFS Annual Film Festival. With a writing style delving into human intricacies and charged dialogue, Joshua leverages his actor's training to create thought-provoking art. Eager to expand his artistic community, he is currently seeking representation.


Lucy Ellis

The Busker
Lucy Ellis is an actor and singer/songwriter based in Toronto. Along with graduating from George Brown Theatre School in 2022, Lucy has studied contemporary and classical text at Stratford and Shaw, and has trained internationally at RADA and LAMDA in England. Recent highlights include her portrayal of Emily in "Our Town" at West End Studio Theatre and Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet" with Sunbeam Theatre Co. This May, audiences can catch her captivating performance as Eve in "Burn" at The Players Guild. Beyond acting, Lucy has a lifelong passion for music, showcasing her talent on her YouTube channel and live performances across Toronto. Lucy is thrilled to combine her love of acting and music in this show, and share the stage with such talented actors!


Matt Scerri

The Unsatisfied Husband
Matt Scerri brings a wealth of acting expertise, with training from The Second City Training Centre, private sessions with industry stalwarts like Chris Earle and Cary West from The Second City, and Toronto Metropolitan University’s School of Performance. His commitment to honing his craft is evident in his completion of acting training under Michael Gellman. Beyond acting, Matt delves into writing and directing, showcasing his creativity through his production company, Cast of Two. He marked his Toronto Fringe debut as the Unsatisfied Husband in "Things We Lost in The Fire" and is thrilled to reprise the role at Crow's Theatre.


JeN Hashimoto

The Prude
JeN holds a BA Honours double major in Theatre and English from York University and is currently honing her craft with Compass Arts. She has graced the stages of numerous Toronto theatre companies, cherishing roles such as Lorna in "Dead Accounts," Chava in "Fiddler on the Roof," and Elvira in "Blithe Spirit." Living by the mantra "Always Be Curious," JeN's adventurous spirit has led her to diverse experiences, including performing on stage with a giant rabbit in Japan, where she also found love. When not acting, she shares her passion for English teaching on her YouTube channel, JeN’s Jyugyou. Grateful to Tomo for unwavering support and to the entire cast and crew for bringing this incredible play to fruition.


Mari MacDonald

The Good Wife
Mari (she/her) is a versatile performing artist, holding degrees from Randolph College for the Performing Arts and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she earned her Masters of Arts in Musical Theatre Performance. Her impressive repertoire includes standout roles in productions such as "The Great Kelleys" at Alumnae Theatre, "Next to Normal" with Globe Productions, and "Fixer: A New Musical" by Imagination Studios. Mari's talents extend beyond the stage as a co-creator and writer of "X:1969 The Musical," showcased at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022. Committed to creating theatre that mirrors contemporary life, Mari explores themes of coming of age, female empowerment, and love. Kayne Wylie

The Officer
Kayne is thrilled to make his debut appearance at Crow's Theatre in Deon Denton's "Things We Lost in the Fire." A proud graduate of Humber College's AFTV program (Acting for Film & Television), Kayne brings with him a rich portfolio of past performances. He has captivated audiences in productions such as "Brownbread" with the Toronto Irish Players, "Comic Potential" with The NAGs Players, and "The Great Kelleys," "B to Z," and "Speed Dating at the Bull & Bell" at Alumnae Theatre's Fireworks Festival and New Ideas Festival. His talent has also shone brightly in works like "Dispatch" and "Indifference" at the Newmarket National Play Festival, as well as "That's Life" and "Communist Mummies from Mars," produced by Humber College. Kayne extends heartfelt gratitude to his devoted family and friends for their unwavering support throughout his journey.


Brooke Friendly

The Investigator
Brooke Friendly, an acclaimed actor celebrated for his versatility and unwavering dedication to his craft, embarked on his journey in theater arts at York University. With notable credits spanning both film and stage, including "The Wicked Reborn," "Spellbinder," "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers," and "The Piano," Brooke showcases his remarkable ability to embody diverse characters with authenticity and depth. Whether portraying the sinister sheriff in a gritty western drama or infusing warmth and humor into a comedy, Brooke's performances resonate with audiences. He is thrilled to join the cast of "Things We Lost In The Fire" at Crow's Theatre. Beyond his artistic pursuits, Brooke advocates passionately for diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry. Off-screen, he cherishes time with family and friends, and enjoys exploring new hiking trails with his loyal companion, Ozzy.

Erin Jones

Director
Erin Jones, a theatre multi-hyphenate in directing, playwriting, acting, and stage managing, loves theatre. She wrote/produced the award-winning Time Limits Dropped on Easter Sunday (Toronto Fringe Festival). Erin co-authored a children's musical play and supports the performing arts behind the scenes. She was Assistant Director for Cripple of Inishmaan in Scarborough. She directed Exit: An Illusion for Shadowpath Theatre, and And One More Thing as part of Alumnae’s New Ideas Festival. She is thrilled to be reunited with many familiar faces and grateful for the opportunity to direct this great cast.
