The COC closes its Season Like No Other with a family favourite: Mozarts The Magic Flute. This timeless classic follows the adventures of Tamino and his hilarious bird-catcher sidekick Papageno on their quest to rescue the kidnapped Princess Pamina. They battle armed men, enchanted animals, evil henchmen, and overcome them all with a magical musical instrument, gaining a deeper understanding of love and wisdom along the way. Led by Canadian director Ashlie Corcoran, this production sees the COC debuts of Turkish-Austrian tenor Ilker Arcayrek in the role of Tamino and Norwegian soprano Caroline Wettergreen as the wicked Queen of the Night. Several familiar faces return to the COC, including Canadian bass-baritone Gordon Bintner as Papageno and soprano Anna-Sophie Neher as Pamina, with German conductor Patrick Lange leading the COC Orchestra through Mozarts whimsical score.
