King Gilgamesh (and the Man of the Wild) returns to Soulpepper Theatre following successful performances across North America. This hybrid theatre-music production, co-created by Ahmed Moneka, Jesse LaVercombe, and Seth Bockley, blends the ancient tale of Gilgamesh with a contemporary narrative of friendship and resilience. Starring Moneka and LaVercombe, the performance features live music from Moneka's Juno-nominated Arabic jazz ensemble, enhancing the exploration of themes like masculinity, art, and exile. Directed by Bockley, this poignant work reflects Moneka's personal journey as an exiled artist navigating his identity in a new land.
