InPlay, Inc. will present its first 'By the Book' series with a staged reading of William Shakespeare's Othello from tonight, August 6 through August 9, 2015 in the Penn Valley Room of Just Off Broadway Theatre. Just Off Broadway Theatre is located at 3051 Central in Penn Valley Park, Kansas City, MO.

Sydney Festival launches its 40th anniversary year with two great works of art; a special October season of Desdemona based on Shakespeare's Othello, and Festival theatre highlight Woyzeck - a stage adaptation of Georg Buchner's eponymous play by American musicians Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, and acclaimed theatre director Robert Wilson.

THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, directed by Utah Shakespeare Festival Founder Fred C. Adams, is a huge hit, which has prompted the Festival to add two matinee performances of this hilarious battle of the sexes. Although it takes some time, Theatreworks' funky take on Shakespearean comedy is ultimately hilarious and magical.

Each year, a select group of talented high school students participate in the Summer Shakespeare Intensive. This four-week program, which guides students through workshops and rehearsals, will culminate with a public performance of two, one-hour versions of Shakespeare's plays, Love's Labor's Lost, directed by Ray Chambers, and The Tempest, directed by Vivia Font, on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, on Monday, August 10 at 7:00 p.m.

Shakespeare in Clark Park celebrates its 10th Anniversary with The Winter's Tale, Shakespeare's tragicomedy of family and forgiveness. Director Kittson O'Neill (InterAct Theatre Company, Hedgerow Theatre) helms the company of professional actors along with a chorus of over 30 Philadelphia-area children. The Winter's Tale opens under the stars in 'the Bowl' of Clark Park today, July 29 and runs through August 2. All performances are at 7 p.m.

The Comedy of Errors continues The Old Globe's 2015 Summer Shakespeare Festival as part of the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities during the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration. But as Lysander says 'the course of true love never did run smooth.' Full of madcap chases and mistaken identities, A Midsummer Night's Dream is an exploration of the mystery and madness of love.

On Tuesday July 28, LA Phil Music & Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel ventures into Shakespeare's forest of mistaken identities and fairy mischief for A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM WITH DUDAMEL at the Hollywood Bowl. Actress Bryce Dallas Howard will narrate, bringing Shakespeare's words to life in a magical evening featuring soloists soprano Deanna Breiwick and mezzo-soprano Jennifer Holloway, and the women of the Los Angeles Master Chorale.

Shakespeare was a clear favorite this year at the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival. Among the award-winning productions was Ryan J. Smith's LOVE LABOURS WON, which received two fringe awards: The International Award and an Encore Producers' Award. Back by popular demand, the show has extended through August 6th and will play Thursday nights at 8pm in the Dorie Theatre. Is it a sequel to Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost like the title might imply? I asked Ryan to tell us about the play, which sounds delightful.
