Broadway/San Diego has announced the 2016 San Diego nominees in the categories of Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Musical Production, for the Ben Vereen Awards, sponsored by San Diego County Credit Union taking place on Sunday, May 29th at the historic Balboa Theatre, and is hosted by CBS News 8 anchor Marcella Lee.

The regional awards competition recognizes outstanding achievement in high school musical theatre outside of the Los Angeles area; nominees to perform at San Jose's Center for the Performing Arts on Monday, May 23.

The Broadway Education Alliance has just announced that Tim Federle, co-book writer of TUCK EVERLASTING, will host The Roger Rees Awards for Excellence in Student Performance (formerly the Gershwin Awards), which will be held on Sunday, May 22 at The Beacon High School in Manhattan.

The American Theatre Wing and The Village Voice have announced that legendary actor/dancer/choreographer Carmen de Lavallade and renowned playwright A.R. Gurney will each receive a special Obie Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 61st Annual Obie Awards, which will be held on Monday, May 23, 2016 at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street). Jeff Daniels has done it all. The actor is well known for his performances on TV and the big screen as well as his work as a musician and playwright. This season he has picked up his second Tony nomination (Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play) for his portrayal of Ray in BLACKBIRD, opposite Michelle WIlliams.
