U-M Launches Fall Michigan Arts Festival

The University of Michigan's inaugural Michigan Arts Festival will shine a spotlight on the vibrant arts scene at the university and invites students, faculty, staff and the public to engage with the arts through over 100 events, many of which are free.

The Premier performance of GEARHEADS, playing at the Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre at the University of Michigan, is an original musical comedy, that follows the goings-on at an auto repair shop on a Saturday, when the shop’s owner and service manager are away, leaving the mechanics to run things. When a customer shows up needing a simple repair, she can’t get anyone to help her, because the guys would rather be anywhere else than at work. They turn their break room into a pseudo-frat house, and over the day, love is lost and found, the youngest mechanic has a coming-of-age experience, and the shop becomes a place where everyone belongs.
Tickets To UMS's 2019/20 Season Go On Sale Wed August 7

Tickets to individual performances on the University Musical Society's 141st season will go on sale to the public on Wednesday, August 7, 2019. With appearances by internationally renowned orchestras, chamber musicians, dance groups, jazz and global music artists, and international theater ensembles, the UMS season spans the complete spectrum of the performing arts. Ann Arbor Civic Presents DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS

Based on the 1988 Steve Martin-Michael Caine comedy film of the same name, this original Broadway musical starred John Lithgow and Joanna Gleason and ran nearly two years. The role of the Steve Martin character won Norbert Leo Butz a Tony award. The music is written by the Tony-award-winning composer of THE BAND'S VISIT David Yazbek.
