I enjoyed Hamilton every bit as much as I did in 2019. What struck me most this time was the sheer skill and stamina required of the cast. I still can't imagine performing this fast-paced, rap lyric-heavy musical night after night. Though it's one of the longest musicals I've attended, it moves at s…
An imaginatively mounted production with a terrific cast that acted as a tribute to the late great Duncan Sheik.…
Bat Boy isn’t my usual cup of tea. It’s loud, strange, and unapologetically over the top, and for the first few scenes I wasn’t sure what to make of it. I went in skeptical and came out cheering. Bat Boy is bizarre, brash, and nothing like what I normally see, and it completely won me over. Ju…
When 38 planes were grounded in Gander after 9/11, the small town didn't ask where the 7,000 strangers on those planes came from, what they believed, or who they voted for - they just opened their homes. Eight O'Clock Theatre's production doesn't sentimentalize that choice; it makes you feel how sim…
Walking the timeline of Banksy’s work at the Straz was extraordinary, with over 160 pieces revealing his evolution. The stories behind the photos and the accompanying video added a deeper layer to the experience.…
Ava Rice and the Eighth Sin, a new musical presented by Breakroom Entertainment, features a book and lyrics by Pedro Amaral. The company that is known for reworking music, such as Disney Parodies... takes a stab at an unknown title, that still feels close to home. We all know about the seven deadly …
When the idea of seeing this Ken Ludwig play came to fruition, I was immediately enamored with the idea that it is based on a true story. Chronologically retelling the story of his parents courtship amidst the backdrop of war, specifically World War II, created a strong presence, I knew would resona…
A wonderful production that provides a heavy dose of optimism that's needed now more than ever!…
Schoolhouse Rock Live! delivered a cheerful rush of childhood memories with standout acting, singing and lively choreography. The cast’s energy made every familiar song feel fresh again. It was pure nostalgia wrapped in a bright, polished summer production.…
Green Day’s American Idiot is a rock musical, mostly sung through, in a blistering 90 minutes. It ran its first inception at Berkley Rep in 2009, before transferring to the St. James Theatre on Broadway. Beginning previews in March of 2010, before having its offical opening date of April 20,2010…
