Photo Flash: Meet the Cast of freeFall Theatre's THE MIKADO, Opening Tonight

By:

freeFall's newest production opening tonight, April 26 and closing May 18 promises to be a real drag! Artistic Director Eric Davis directs this exciting new staging of a Gilbert and Sullivan classic. THE MIKADO stars Patrick Ryan Sullivan (Broadway's FORTY-SECOND STREET and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST) as The Mikado of Japan, Larry Alexander (Broadway's LES MISERABLES and CHESS) as Pooh-Bah and Tampa Bay's favorite actor/drag performer Matthew McGee as Katisha, the elderly lady. Scroll down for a first look at the cast!

This masterpiece of silliness and satire will take you to a politically incorrect, fictional version of feudal Japan for an evening of tomfoolery and visual decadence. freeFall's production will be a mix of Kabuki theatre, Vegas floor show and RuPaul's Drag Race as a cast of nine men and a rocking band bring to life the series of sublimely ridiculous executions and weddings that make this perennial classic a must-see.

The cast for THE MIKADO also features Dick Baker as Nanki-Poo, a Wandering Minstrel; Glenn Gover as Ko-Ko, Lord High Executioner of the Town of Titipu; Emanuel Carrero, Gavin Esham and Mark Vincent Mansilungan as, respectively, Yum-Yum, Pitti-Sing and Peep-Bo, sisters and Wards of Ko-Ko. Eric Davis and Scott Daniel have designed and constructed an array of costumes, wigs and properties that would make Bob Mackie emerald green with envy. Musical Director Emi P. Stefanov leads the band and Nicholas J. White creates orchestrations.

According to Jim Sorensen, freeFall's Managing Director, "We are planning an exciting all-male staging of THE MIKADO - one that is going to be full of spectacle, theatricality and a wealth of topical jokes that play right into Gilbert and Sullivan's clever look at bureaucracy and imperialism. In many ways THE MIKADO is the crown jewel of our Season of Outcasts. We are confident that this exciting musical production will delight audiences of all ages."

freeFall Theatre and Russell Buchan present this production of THE MIKADO. Patsy Anderson also sponsors the show. Contact Matthew McGee at 727-498-5205 (X 7) for information on group rates and show availability. Adult ticket prices range from $29 - $44 and discount tickets can be obtained by contacting the box office. For more information, visit www.freefalltheatre.com or call (727) 498-5205.
