A RAISIN IN THE SUN by Lorraine Hansberry is gearing up for its run at Stageworks Theatre at Grand Central at Kennedy in Tampa, Fla., beginning October 3, opening October 4 and running through the 20th. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast below!
This groundbreaking play opened on Broadway in 1959. Set on Chicago's South Side, the plot revolves around the divergent dreams and conflicts within three generations of the Younger family. Sacrifice, trust and love among the Younger family and their heroic struggle to retain dignity in a harsh and changing world is a searing and timeless document of hope and inspiration. It was the first play written by a black woman to be produced on Broadway.Winner of the NY Drama Critic's Award as Best Play of the Year.
Directed by Ron Bobb-Semple, the cast features: Brittney Bellamy, Matthias Donaldson, Josh Goff, Rico Gordon, Tia Jemison, Don Johnson, Peter Konowitz , Robert Richards and Cassandra Small.
