Gulfport Community Players, the 31-year-old not-for-profit theater group of the city of Gulfport present The Mandrake, closing March 13, 2011. Directed by Frank Hale, the play is described as holding 'non-stop high spirits and hilarity.'

"This acclaimed satirical play follows 24 hours in the passionate adventures of a young Florentine man. Risque comedy where characters are easily persuaded to lie and deceive, in order to improve their lives. A madcap romp that revolves around an improbable scheme for impregnating the beautiful wife of dim-witted older men. A bold, brash adaptation of Machiavelli's famous 16th century masterpiece."

The show runs from March 3 - March 13th. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Eileen's Resale Boutique, Gulfport Beach Bazaar, Gulfport Casino, or by calling 727-322-0316. For more information, visit the official website. The play is held at the Catherine A. Hickman Theater of Gulfport.

The Gulfport Community Players, Inc. is a chartered not-for-profit theater group created back in 1980 under the able guidance of our late founder, Catherine A. Hickman. The other founders included Mary Atkinson, Ruth Barbey, Laurel Kipycienski, Ed Maloney, Carol Polk, Dean Dobbs, and Judy Ryerson.

We offer live theater, featuring a variety of plays that we deem our community will enjoy, for a very reasonable admission charge of just $15 per ticket.  By the many sold-out performances we have enjoyed in the past, we think our audiences have, for the most part, agreed with our choices and consider our ticket price a rare bargain for live theater.
